About Calder Community Squash

Founded in October 2021 by CEO Aron Harper-Robinson, Calder Community Squash uses squash as a tool for social change. We’ve grown to meet Calderdale’s community needs, delivering diverse projects across the borough and beyond, with strong support from England Squash. Our diverse board of trustees, with lived experience of the challenges we address, guides our work with insight and authenticity.

Our programmes include sessions for people with disabilities, mental health support, obesity prevention, crime reduction, and reducing isolation in the asylum seeker community. We provide inclusive squash opportunities for Muslim women, girls, and boys. Working with Invictus Wellbeing, we run Healthy Holidays programmes offering enriching activities for children accessing free school meals.

Community empowerment is central to all we do. We create opportunities for skill-building and growth. Many volunteers have trained and now hold paid roles within the organisation.

What we do

improve health

& Wellbeing

In 2024, Calder Community Squash engaged 500 individuals through our programmes, improving access to sport and physical activity. Our projects focus on enhancing both physical health and mental wellbeing, making a positive impact across the diverse communities we proudly serve.

increase access & inclusion

We use squash to unite people around a shared passion, aiming to build a community without barriers. A place where everyone has equal opportunities to enjoy sport, find positive role models, and take part in enriching activities that leave a lasting impact on their lives.

bringing communities together

Calder Community Squash was born in Calderdale, a rich and vibrant place with diverse and unique communities throughout. We soon realised the important role that sport can play in improving social cohesion. We bring together young people, families, and individuals from all walks of life through our programmes and activities.
